This page is for adults aged 18 and over who gamble, or who are worried about someone who does. It covers what gambling costs, the warning signs, limits that help and where to find support in India.
18+ only. Gambling is not for anyone under 18. If you share a phone with a child, keep betting apps, payment apps and saved passwords locked.
What gambling really is
Gambling is paid entertainment. You pay for it through your losses, and the price is not fixed in advance.
Every casino game and every betting market is priced so that the operator keeps a share. This is the house edge. Take Aviator, which publishes a return to player of 97%. That figure means that, across a very large number of rounds, about ₹97 of every ₹100 staked comes back to players and ₹3 stays with the house. In a short session you may be ahead or behind. Over time the average pulls you towards a loss.
No strategy, staking system, predictor app or signal channel changes this. Gambling has a negative expected return. It is not a job, not an investment and not a way to clear a debt.
Warning signs
Go through this list honestly. Ticks are saved on your device only.
One or two ticks are a reason to set firm limits today. Several ticks, or any tick about borrowing or hiding, are a reason to stop and talk to someone.
Practical limits that work
Limits work when you set them before you start, while you are calm.
Set a budget
Decide a monthly amount you can lose completely without touching bills, savings or family money. When it is gone, you are done for the month.
Set a time limit
Fix a session length and set an alarm. Crash games run many rounds in a few minutes, so money goes quicker than it feels.
Do not chase losses
A loss is the price of the session, not a debt the game owes you. Raising stakes to get it back turns small losses into large ones.
Never borrow to bet
No loans, no credit cards, no loan apps, no money from friends. If you are tempted to borrow, stop altogether.
Do not gamble when you are drunk, angry, tired or upset, and keep a simple record of deposits and withdrawals, because memory favours the wins.
Tools to ask the operator for
Batery lists live chat and email support. Ask support in writing to apply the following, and keep a copy of the request and the reply.
- Deposit limits: a cap on how much you can deposit in a day, week or month.
- Time limits or a time-out: a restriction on session length, or a short break during which you cannot play.
- Self-exclusion: closing your account for a long period or permanently.
We have not tested how these requests are handled, and the operator is not regulated in India, so do not rely on it alone. Uninstall the app, remove saved payment methods, leave betting Telegram channels and ask someone you trust to help. Self-exclusion on one site does not block others.
Help in India
| Need | Contact | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Distress, anxiety, urge to gamble | Tele-MANAS, dial 14416 | Free government mental-health helpline, 24/7 |
| Online fraud or scam | Dial 1930 | National cyber fraud helpline |
| Reporting a cybercrime online | cybercrime.gov.in | National cybercrime reporting portal |
You do not need to be in crisis to call Tele-MANAS. Worry about money, guilt about losses and trouble sleeping are reasons enough.
If you have been cheated by a fake site, a fake APK or someone posing as customer care, call 1930 and your bank immediately. There is no official Batery phone line, as our helpline number page explains, so any caller who asks for an OTP, a UPI PIN or a screen-sharing app is a fraudster.
If you are worried about a family member
- Choose a calm moment and describe what you have seen without accusing.
- Expect denial at first, and return to the subject later.
- Do not pay off gambling debts or lend money. It often funds more betting.
- Protect household finances: separate accounts, limits on shared cards, and no shared UPI PINs.
- Encourage a call to Tele-MANAS on 14416. You can call for guidance yourself as well.
Legal note for India
Not legal advice. Batery is not licensed by any Indian authority. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 prohibits offering online money games, advertising them and facilitating payments for them. Penalties are aimed at providers rather than individual players, but playing on an offshore site gives you no Indian consumer protection and no ombudsman for disputes. Sites can be blocked and payments can fail or be reversed. Check the current law, including your state's rules.
That lack of protection is itself a reason for caution. For how we work, see our editorial policy.
